Movies

Today, I went to see Iron Man. And, in case your wondering, it was awesome! The acting was smooth, the timing was perfect, the actors were well chosen, the effects were awesome, and there was some major tail-whipping too.

I'm not gonna give you this huge review and spoil the film, you can go and see how cool it was for yourself. I am gonna explain a few things about Christian movie going.

I know that I'll probably get shot by the BPM (Band of Protective Mothers) for this but I'm going to say it any way: I don't agree with the whole Christians can't go to any PG-13 movies. Go ahead, quote me. I think that when watching a PG-13 movie you should use caution though. For instance, only 30 seconds of this film was related to improper/crude humor (involving love that got kind'a out of hand). During that 30 seconds I buried my eyes in popcorn, yelled in agony at burning butter my brother applied to the popcorn, picked the kernels out of my nose, and flicked them at the loser lovers in-front of me, and BOOM the bad stuff is over.

I'd hate to miss the action and comedy of a PG-13 movie like Iron Man for 30 seconds of "questionable content". And sure there were the hints of the "questionable material" thrown around verbally throughout the movie, but that's to be expected.

Another problem that the BPM has with PG-13 movies is the language they use. Well, the cash register lady was really slow at the grocery store and I learned more there from the guy ahead of me than in 20 PG-13 movies. So, the obvious solution is to only let people over the age of 21 into the grocery store.

Listen, I have no problem with the people that belong to the BPM, but I do have a problem with them telling me what I can and cannot watch.

I am a Christian, I love God, I try my best to follow His commands. But seriously, is the world on the big screen any different from the world around us? I believe it was the apostle Paul who made it a point to learn Greek mythology so that when approaching those people he'd have something to talk about before he got into the whole "Jesus loves you" portion of the afternoon.

Well, that's all for me. gotta hit the hay. that's my random post. Take it or leave it.
